What are Positive and Negative Common in Analog Remote Control?

Category
Product Support FAQs

The common terminal for the analog remote control is internally connected to either the positive or negative output terminal (sense/load) or to the product enclosure (chassis ground).

When the common is connected to the positive output, it is referred to as "positive common." Conversely, when connected to the negative output, it is called "negative common."

Caution: Connecting the common terminals of a positive common unit and a negative common unit together creates a short circuit across the outputs. This causes severe damage to the equipment. To prevent such issues, some products feature an analog control interface that is galvanically isolated from the power supply output. Please consult the table below and the product manual to ensure the correct configuration before use.
